The Strange Agency are
Craig High on vocals, clarinet, tin whistle and recorder, Dave Bates on
guitar and vocals, Isie Bates on bass and Perry Phillips on drums.
After forming in Spring 2010 "The Strange Agency" have played many gigs
some which include The Lifeboat Tavern in Tenby, West Wales to a
capacity crowd with "The Purple Turtles" as support, Dave and his wife
Charlotte's wedding reception party in a marquee on their commune in
West Wales, the first Teifi Rock Festival in Cardigan, West Wales
alongside The Stingrays, The Blockheads, The Beat and Goldie Lookin'
Chain", The South West Youth Fest in Pembrokeshire and Whitland Town Hall.
In 2011 some of their dates have included the South West Youth Fest for
the second time, the Jackdaw all-dayer in Colchester alongside such
bands as Gunslinger, The Higher Craft, Flutatious, Vert X and Nik
Turner's Space Ritual and The Parrot in Carmarthen with Sendelica and
the Muscovite psychedelic band The Re-Stoned. After a hugely successful
Mad Pride event at The Montague Arms in New Cross, South East London
playing alongside Frank Bangay, Dave Studdert, Paradise 9 and Edgar
Broughton with guest drummer Steve Jenkins from Sessionhead former
members Luke {bass} and Tom {guitar} left the band because they felt
they coudn't allocate the amount of time to the project that it deserves.
Since Isie has joined the band they've played a Halloween party at The
Black Lion Hotel in Cardigan alongside The Rayguns, Devil's Answer and
Ravenheart, The Penquoit Centre along the Pembrokeshire coast and were
honoured to be asked to run from 11:30pm to 12:30am at a packed New
Year's Eve Party in a marquee in a valley somewhere in West Wales
stopping the set briefly in order to let a crowd of excited punters
count down to 2012. Dave's Hendrix style version of Auld Lang Syne
courted the moment perfectly.
Craig's musical history is documented elsewhere on this site. Dave Bates
was, for some years one half of the duo "Electric Fish", the other half
of which was Bob Fish, one time singer and anchorman of the Rock and
Roll Band "The Darts". For the best part of the last ten years Dave has
been the guitarist of "The Nik Turner Band", a tight Modern Jazz
ensemble fronted by the legendary singer/saxophonist from Hawkwind and
Inner City Unit and regular guest performer with "The Strange Agency".
Isie Bates is also in local Folksters "Three Penny Twist" with her
partner Dave Green. Tom, Luke and Perry are also members of the Hard
Rock Band "Love Rocket" who have won considerable support from the biker
community as a result of playing "The Bulldog Bash".
The Strange Agency also have a site on

(April Fool's Day 2010)
Roll your dice it's ever so nice
Experiment is my advice
Get an ideology
Watch out for idolatry
Or go
Round round
and down down
Round round
and down down
Mass action it's a must
Don't tell me you can't be fussed
Get together be satisfied
Relate now and know you've tried
Or go
Round Round
and down down
Round Round
and down down
Mobilize your picket lines
It's a sure sign of the times
Don't be told that you're a fool
Remonstrate and know it's cool
Or go
Round Round
and down down
Round Round
and down down
